SCOTT I knew Joel Hanson's name was familiar--I still love the early 90's Minneapolis trance-pop band Judgement of Paris where his hammered dulcimer really helped define their sound, and I'm hooked on Memory Drawings now too! I can't really choose a favorite track as I'm happy to listen to the whole thing over and over; the reworks are interesting, too. Wonderful! Favorite track: The Island Of The Day Before.

about

"There is No Perfect Place" is the second full length album from Anglo-American chamber-folk outfit Memory Drawings. Led by the beguiling hammered dulcimer of Morocco-based American Joel Hanson, 'There Is No Perfect Place' features Richard Adams (Hood/The Declining Winter) and Sarah Kemp (Lanterns on the Lake) on guitars and violin respectively.

"one of those albums that will instantly obsess you. A perfect and gentle mix of folk stylings, melancholic country tinges and weird pop" Norman Records 9/10

"more than suitable and supportive soundtrack for adjusting to oncoming seasonal mood shifts and longer more contemplative nights. Don’t let this one pass you by." DOA

"Hanson’s playing is expert throughout the album. The globe-trotting nature of the instrument is captivating... effortlessly connecting cross-continental traditions via the band’s simple style, distilling various folk musics to a minimalistic palette and allowing contrasting elements to rise without contradicting each other". Fluid Radio

"It is hard to think of a better instrumental album to enjoy in the waning days of summer. Highly recommended". Stationery Travels
